Arch Manning commits to Texas

New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman five-star quarterback manning bow has committed to Texas. Top247’s No. 1 recruit also heavily considered Alabama and Georgia.

“All of this unfolded authentically and organically,” Isidore Newman’s head coach Nelson Stewart told 247Sports. “He is a super special boy and I trust his decision.

“I’m excited that he can smile and have a great senior year. It has certainly been a journey like no other.”

The 6-foot-4, 218-pound Manning visited each of his finalists, including his official, four times in Austin over the weekend. Manning was the only sign that the Texas head coach steve sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee chased in the cycle.

“From the beginning of your hiring. from the first Zoom that he had with Sark, it was a real connection between the two of them,” Stewart said. “I think the authenticity, knowing him and the extension of [quarterbacks coach] AJ Milwee”.

The Texas Longhorns have a history when it comes to getting commitments from No. 1 quarterbacks overall: 2002 top prospect Vince Young committed to Texas and eventually won a national championship. In the summer of 2020, then-2022 World No. 1 prospect Quinn Ewers committed to Texas before finally retiring six weeks later, reclassifying, enrolling at Ohio State and, of course, transferring to Texas.
