NBA rumors: Warriors interested in three draft prospects at pick No. 28

If the Warriors don’t end up trading the No. 28 pick in the NBA Draft, one report claims they would be interested in all three of these prospects.

The Athletic’s Zach Harper reported in his latest Q&A column that Golden State is open to moving the pick to free up guaranteed money. If they end up keeping the pick, the Warriors are rumored to be interested in Michigan’s Caleb Houstan, Kansas’ Christian Braun and Ohio State’s EJ Liddell.

“The defending champions are apparently open to moving their 28th pick in the draft, and that could be tied to some guaranteed money, which would cause them an even bigger luxury tax bill, though there’s not a huge difference between a deal minimum and what the 28th pick would command,” Harper writes. “If they decide to keep him, it’s thought the Warriors would be interested in Houstan or Christian Braun. EJ Liddell would be the dream scenario, but it’s hard to imagine him dropping to No. 28.”

Warriors general manager Bob Myers told reporters Wednesday that he doesn’t think money will be a factor in the pick trade.

“I don’t think money is going to be a factor in terms of trading or keeping the pick,” Myers said. “It will be if it makes sense, so it won’t really be a monetary decision. . We have like 15, 20 people on the ninth floor right now watching movies and getting the preliminary order and lining up our board.”

Houstan, a forward, Braun, a shooting guard, and Liddell, a power forward, each play three different positions, which could indicate the Warriors aren’t targeting a certain position and will likely draft the best available player if they find themselves in the game. board in election No. 28.

Regardless of who they draft, or if they draft anyone, Golden State will still be in a great position with the current core of superstars and the handful of exciting young talent waiting in the wings.
